Now promotions can collect entries by having users like a post, vote with likes, comment on a post or by messaging your page.
This is great for smaller businesses who have not had the money or understanding to invest in third-party apps, and who have previously run the risk of having their page shut down for breaching the rules, even if they were unaware of them.
However, businesses still need to familiarise themselves with the new guidelines, as some of the old rules remain. One such example is that you cannot ask users to tag themselves in a photo or other content they are not actually portrayed in.
This also means that you need to know your contest objectives. Do you want to build your database or engage your community? Increase your fans through exclusivity or simply increase brand awareness? To app or not to app?
