Meet The Team: Nigel

Meet the team: Nigel from Simple Duck Media

Technically, Nigel is the co-founder of Simple Duck Media. But Social Media Servants and Simple Duck Media work together so often, we consider him an important part of the team!

Find out why we think he’s so awesome below.

What is your professional background?

I trained as an actor, then toured as a comedian, then moved over to film.

We were doing YouTube clips before there was YouTube! We bought a series of 16 ad spaces on Channel 10 and ran a viral comedy TV show, 30 seconds at a time. The group was called Gert Nurple And The Trumple Bycee.

And then I went into online film production, and now I’m here. The through line of all of that is that I like telling stories.

What is your favourite digital platform?

YouTube. I love YouTube because I love film, and it’s provided a platform for anyone to be able to tell stories.

If you could give someone only one piece of advice regarding video, what would it be?

Be who you are. Video or film is a personal medium, and it brings out falsities. That’s why there are only five mega star actors in the world. People can see when you’re not being genuine, so just relax, and be yourself.

Who is your favourite person/brand/group to follow online and why?

Joss Whedon. Because he tells stories over multiple platforms.

What do you love about working with Social Media Servants?

I like working in conjunction with a team to create an overall product that has a social media strategy, not just a pretty video. And it’s great working with a team that values video as part of a strategy.

Also, there are quite often donuts.

If you could choose one movie to change the ending of, what would it be?

Any film that Michael Bay directed, but I’d change the beginning and middle as well. Just kidding, sort of.
