Smart, creative, and a whole lot of fun, Gemma is our Senior Strategist and Account Manager and was one of the first team members at Social Media Servants.
If you’ve worked with us before, you’ve probably spoken to Gemma, or you may have seen her sharing her digital knowledge at a speaking event. But you may not know what her role involves, or how awesome she is! So get to know a little bit more about Gemma here.
What does your role involve?
My job involves working with the clients to establish an online profile for their brand that will drive awareness, connection with their customers, and increase sales. We do this by creating campaigns that will create engagement and leads.
There are many different aspects involved in this, including content collection, industry research, keeping up to date with trends and also creating new trends, constantly evolving the strategy through our own analytical research of what’s working and what’s not, and being creative with new ideas.
In my role currently, I’m also looking at ways of improving our product offering, as well as ensuring the team are happy and constantly being challenged and improving.
How do you help your clients?
To put it simply, we help by creating strategies that will elevate their social presence to drive brand awareness, community engagement, and sales. But what isn’t in the product description is that we almost act as a support network.
Social can often be a difficult or confusing area of someone’s business, so we like to continually educate our clients, so that they understand why we do the things that we do, and also feel comfortable, and feel that they can have more of an input into their social.
A lot of businesses don’t have the time to focus on that, so we provide four extra team members, much like another branch of their own organisation. They can come to us at any time to ask questions.
What is your favourite thing about social media?
Because it’s continually changing and improving, there’s always scope for creating things that have never been done before. It allows you to get more creative for less money. You can make a greater impact with minimal budget. And just the fact that it’s continuous two-way communication, so brands can improve, but also consumers can feel more connected and valued.
What is something about social media marketing that most people don’t know?
Most people don’t know that Facebook actually limits the amount of people who see your post. This algorithm is continually changing, so we have to work on new ways of increasing post reach, both organically and with advertising.
What do you feel sets Social Media Servants apart in the market?
Our culture. We’re open and friendly and approachable and we’ll always be there for our clients no matter what their question or challenge might be. Internally, our environment is extremely supportive and we try to lift our clients up just as much as our own team.
What is your favourite culture activity at Social Media Servants?
Personal Development on Fridays. In so many workplaces your personal goals are often forgotten about, so it’s good to have this time to really work on improving ourselves as individuals.
What’s something you’ve put on your Christmas wishlist that people might think is strange?
New stationery and desk organisers.
